Our Mental House
Introduction to the Essay Series
In this essay series and the one to follow we will take a deeper dive into mind. If there is a key to our personal and spiritual growth it is the minds we create. When it comes to both of these types of growth all roads lead through our it, which makes understanding it a powerful tool for both kinds of growth.
In the previous and first section of the core curriculum (Concepts) we took our initial look at the mind. However, in them we only scratched the surface. We looked at the core aspects of it that affect our growth - our emotions, minds and higher aspects (Non-Rational - not lower mind based). Those essays lay the groundwork for this essay and the one that follows it.
Over the millennia there have been many who have told us what we need to do to grow personally or spiritually. The challenge is that being told what to do is often insufficient to help people do either. It can lead people to getting frustrated or even confused about not just what to do but how to go about it and have one questioning whether it is worth the effort.
The barriers we face are not external ones that are visible and can be approached like one would fix an appliance or device. They are within us, namely our minds much of which seem to lay beyond our reach. My experiences have shown me that a better understanding of how the mind works and why it works as it does is immensely helpful, which is the purpose of this series.
We will look at how thoughts are created and related, how the mind develops and their and its impact both on us and in our lives. Understanding these things will bring the "what to do's" into better focus, which makes them easier to understand and put into practice.
Below is a list of the essays in this series with links to them for convenience. It is important that you read them in order to avoid misunderstandings and misconceptions. There is only a link to the first essay as this is where your journey through your own mind should start...
