Section 2

Growth Fundamentals

When we choose to work on ourselves, to grow, be it personal or spiritual growth, knowledge about ourselves is important. However, knowledge must be used to be of value. In this section, we will use our understanding of the nature of our awareness to look at core concepts related to it and explore ideas that will help you apply what you have learned to your life. There are also exercises to help you explore yourself to deeper and more profound levels.

The first subsection includes what I believe are two of the most important skills or competencies required for growth: honesty and personal responsibility. Understanding of how and why these two skills are so important will help you tackle challenges more directly. They go hand in hand with the essays on developing greater self awareness and an examination of some of the biggest challenges to growth- guilt and blame, judgments and subjective needs. The essays at the end of this section are focused on and delve deeply into the main thing we need to work on be it personal or spiritual growth - our mind. It is the key to both types of growth.

In the second subsection we take a deeper dive into self awareness, which is critical for growth of any kind. We will also look at some tips that help us grow including how to deal with strong emotions and emotional pain. The last essay in this section is one that explains the concept I used to create the original material the website was originally based on is its namesake - The Twin Powers.

Through these essays you will gain tools to help you come to know yourself and develop a fuller understanding of the nature of the mind. Armed with more knowledge about the mind and its processes you will become more aware of the how and why's of you reactions to experiences, which is how the issues we have in life arise. Given that everyone is unique how to apply this knowledge - what you personally need to do - is something only you can truly figure out for all the answers you need or seek can be found within.

When combined, the tools provided in this section will help you rediscover yourself and start to retrain your mind. Doing so will change how you act and react to your experiences helping you resolve existing issues and reduce the number of issues and challenges you create for yourself. The end result is more balance and growth in every aspect of your life leading to a fuller one.

An additional point worth noting is that personal and spiritual growth are not separate things. One can work on personal growth somewhat independently of any efforts to develop oneself in a spiritual sense though working on our virtues such as being more caring and compassionate is also important. However, the reverse is not the case. If you are intent on working on your spiritual growth personal growth is not optional. If anything it becomes even more important for developing ourselves at the 'personal level' is a foundational element for spiritual growth.
