Becoming Conscious:
The Power of Perception
Our reality is not determined by what is perceived, it is determined by our perception of it, our perception(s) are our reactions to what we perceive. Our perceptions are based on past perceptions and thoughts about them whether we are conscious of it or not and we usually are not aware of most of the thoughts used. This applies to what we perceive without through our senses and within, which are our emotions and thoughts. Perceptions are thoughts that are part of our mind. They do not define who we are, but the play a key role in all we do and they can also limit how conscious we are of any aspects of our true self and do for the vast majority of people.
An awareness of the power that our perception holds over us is the first step in overcoming the limitations it can impose. Once we understand more about the nature of our minds, such as what they are, how they process what we perceive and the interplay between the conscious and non-conscious aspects of our minds, the more control we can take over it. By doing this we can start to reduce the limitations our minds impose. Exploring our perception and what we can do to gain more conscious control over it is the purpose of the this series.
We have already taken a pretty deep dive into the mind and its processes. Our journey through the hallowed halls of our minds and it's mechanism continues with this series of essays. Each of the essays is fairly long the first part being "The Menagerie". Due to the depth of the content I recommend trying to avoid reading whole essays in one sitting.
Note: There are links at the end of each essay to the next or previous part of the series where applicable.
